Johanna Friedl-Naderer

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Johanna Friedl-Naderer has served as Vir’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since April 2022. In this role, she oversees the corporate strategy, product development, commercialization and corporate affairs operations. 

Throughout her career, Mrs. Friedl-Naderer has assembled and led diverse, multi-disciplinary teams focused on advancing access to transformational medicines for devastating neurological conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. 

Prior to joining Vir in March of 2022, Mrs. Friedl-Naderer was President of Europe, Canada & Partner Markets at Biogen, Inc., where she was also part of the company’s Global Leadership Team. During her more than 25 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, including more than 20 years at Biogen, she served in leadership positions across a wide range of functions including sales and marketing, national and international general management and alliance management, both for primary and specialty care.

Mrs. Friedl-Naderer has also served on several boards, including for the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries & Associations (EFPIA), the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, Interpharma and the council of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA).
