David Gollaher, Ph.D.
Head of Policy and Government Affairs
David Gollaher is Head of Policy and Government Affairs for Vir. Previously, he was Vice President for Worldwide Government Affairs and Policy at Gilead Sciences. There he worked to expand access to medicines for HIV, HCV and HBV in the U.S., Europe and Asian commercial markets. At the same time, he was involved extensively in developing-world infectious diseases, helping to build Gilead’s access programs in sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Earlier in his career he was a senior executive at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, which he left to found the California Healthcare Institute (now the California Life Sciences Institute), an association of biopharma companies and academic research institutions he led for two decades. Dr. Gollaher serves on the Board of Overseers for Scripps Research and is a Senior Fellow at the Leonard B. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at USC. He earned his B.A. degree from University of California Santa Barbara, and Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University.
