Aziz Sawaf, MBEE, MBA, CFA

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Aziz Sawaf, MBEE, MBA, CFA serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer where he oversees the company's finance, IT and investor relations functions. Mr. Sawaf brings more than 20 years of biopharmaceutical experience spanning both large global organizations and small public biotechnology companies.

Prior to joining Vir Biotechnology in October 2026, Mr. Sawaf served as Chief Financial Officer since 2023 and also as Senior Vice President of Operations Strategy since 2025 at Theravance Biopharma, a commercial stage biopharmaceutical company focused on respiratory and neurological diseases. In that role, he partnered with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors on corporate strategy, capital allocation, investor engagement, governance, and long-range planning. Mr. Sawaf joined Theravance Biopharma in 2014, holding financial leadership roles of increasing responsibility before being appointed Chief Financial Officer. 

Prior to Theravance, Mr. Sawaf held roles on the R&D and commercial finance teams at Gilead Sciences during a period of extraordinary growth.

Mr. Sawaf currently serves as a member of the board of directors of California Life Sciences Association and as a board advisor to Billow AI.

Mr. Sawaf received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, an MBA from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business and a MBEE from Johns Hopkins University. He has been a CFA^® charterholder since 2013.
